“The Talk”: Six Women, Six Perspectives

“The Talk” is a new weekday show that will be airing live beginning Monday, October 18. This is a show that features six stars who will be discussing topical events as well as contemporary issues. These women are all mothers, and it is from that perspective that they’ll be discussing myriad issues.

Airing live has its own challenges and with only having had a few rehearsals, the first show may well set the tone for the entire season. What is not known, however, is if the topics being discussed are decided upon before hand or not. They likely were, and the women will probably do some homework on the topics to ensure that they speak intelligently about them, with their own voice and perspective.

Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Jaret Winokur are the ladies who will be taking to the set next Monday.

Some of the women are better known than others. By now, Sharon Osbourne is a household name and she is no stranger to television audiences. Julie Chen comes to the show by way of “Big Brother” and “The Early Show”. Holly Robinson’s claim to fame was a recurring role on “21 Jumpstreet” and Marissa Jaret Winokur is best known for her role on Broadway with “Hairspray” and most recently she was on “Dancing with the Stars”. You may remember Sarah Gilbert from “Roseanne” and Leah Rimini was the female star of “King of Queens”.

While there certainly will be celebrity gossip, the women hosts may not be discussing Apple store promo code. They want women everywhere to be able to relate to the show by discussing topics of interest to women. Styled loosely after “The View”, this show promises to bring a refreshing and intelligent program to daytime television.
